Yes, the Lectron will be a pretty large improvement over a jetted stocker. The stock carburetor is a huge restriction no matter how you jet it. The MX is just there to make the most power it physically can. It'll be thirsty but will lift the front easily. As mentioned, the suspension and sprocket setup make a big difference. I am wondering if anyo...The Lectron has been around a long time but until recently the owner was into drag racing and so the carb performed very well in that venue. The carbs have been used by a few very high level off road guys in events such as the ISDE as far back as 20 years ago. They are $300 and available and very easy to tune and don't need fiddling.To tune the rod, remove the slide and hold the slide to where the rod is pointing towards you. Turning it to the right will richen it. Turning it to the left will lean it. What you are doing is either threading it in and shortening the length of it (.006" per ¼ turn), or threading it out and adding length to it.The Mikuni is not our favorite carburetor but you can jet it and make the the bike run well. The biggest drawback to the Mikuni is that the fuel mileage isn't great and the jetting seems to only work for a relatively narrow altitude and temp range. The beauty of the Lectron carb is its very WIDE operating range.
