It doesn't appear to be working, I have two logs inside of the antique oven, some twigs and a lighter in my main inventory and it won't let me.I'm not 100% sure if this is a bug, but for me it's not possible to start a fire with a notched wooden plank and a sturdy stick. I keep both items in my inventory, but when i click on the fire, the option to light the fire only appears for the lighter and matches.
