During the Eye of the Storm quest line for the Crimson fleet, at a certain point you must put the Comspike and Conduction Grid modules on your ship. You probably didn't do it right, try again: From flight check press "G" (rename ship) Press "G" again and type a desired name. Press "Enter". Like, it should never be below 1600. The inherent problem, even if you can dup your ship is when you get the unique ship components.
